“The Little Mermaid” live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animation of the same name, directed by Rob Marshall, Halle Bailey as the heroine Ariel the Mermaid.
And recently, African-American singer Lizzo shared online her experience auditioning for the live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” for the role of Ursula, the underwater witch.
Ursula is the famous villain of the octopus sea witch. It is a fat woman on the upper body and a black octopus claws on the lower body.
She has been described as bizarre, scheming, and vindictive, scheming others, and doing whatever it takes to achieve her own selfish ends.
The underwater witch Ursula is a key character, and it is her inducement that causes the Little Mermaid to lose her life.
“A lot of people know that I auditioned for the live-action Ursula in ‘The Little Mermaid,’ and I didn’t get the part, but I felt okay,” Lizzo said. “I wanted to make Ursula a little sexier.”
Lizzo thinks she auditioned well and she can sing well (there are singing and dancing parts in the film).
The live-action “The Little Mermaid” will be released in North America on May 26, 2023.
