Damien Chazelle (‘La La Land’ ‘Whiplash’) directed the new film ‘Babylon’ which performed poorly at the box office in its first week in Northern America.
The film opened last weekend Northern America, Christmas weekend 3 days only collected 3.5 million dollars, holiday 4 days estimated box office 5.3 million box office.
The film cost about $80 million and was 3 hours and 9 minutes long, with a CinemaScore audience rating of only C+.
The cast is luxurious: Brad Pitt, Diego Calva, Margot Robbie, Li Jun Li, Tobey Maguire, Jovan Adepo, Katherine Waterston, Max Minghella, Olivia Wilde, Spike Jonze, Phoebe Tonkin, Samara Weaving, Flea, Rory Scovel, Lukas Haas, Eric Roberts, P.J. Byrne, Damon Gupton and others star.
‘Babylon’ cost $80-100 million to produce and is rated R.
The story focuses on the creation of Hollywood in the early 1920s, a period of transition from silent to talkies, filled with people chasing fame, fortune and power, portraying the rise and fall of multiple characters and lives of ambitious, wild and wildly uncontrollable people who are all out of control.
