Critic Todd Gilchrist, who gave the film a 25, said, “The film is not only bloated, tedious, clumsy and oily, but redundant.”
Critic Richard Roeper gave the film 88 points, saying that unlike many of the cookie-cutter, wisecracking assassin movies of recent memory, ‘Bullet Train’ admits its eccentricity from the start, but also manages to connect many dots in creative ways.
IGN gave it 70 points, and IGN’s Matt DonatoR opined, “David Leitch’s crazy train never derails or reaches top speed, but still gives us a smooth and steady joyride experience that trumps those recent American action blockbusters.”
