Casting of Giorgos Lanthimos’s new work “Poor Things” revealed, Christopher Abbott will join in collaboration with Emma Stone

The latest film “Poor Things” by director Giorgos Lanthimos of “The Favourite” exposed the news of new actors joining.

It is reported that the British actor Christopher Abbott will join the crew, cooperating with Emma Stone and “Hulk” Mark Ruffalo who have been confirmed to star in the film before.

“Poor Things” is adapted from the novel of the same name published by Scottish writer Alasdair Gray in 1992. It tells a story similar to Frankenstein.

“Poor Things” is set in Victorian England at the end of the 19th century and is recounted by a doctor named Archibald McCandless.

His wife is Bella Baxter, but this is not her real name, but the name given to her by Godwin Baxter, the Scottish surgeon who resurrected her.

It turned out that Bella was already a wife, but her husband often abused her. Unbearable, she jumped into the river and committed suicide.

There was still a fetus in her belly at the time.

Dr. Godwin Baxter is a lonely surgeon. He used Frankenstein’s method to resurrect the woman and transplanted the brain of the fetus in her stomach to her.

After the resurrection, this woman became Bella Baxter.

She is beautiful. Every man she meets wants to take advantage of her, but in the end they are actually used by her.

The story’s narrator “Doctor Archibald McCandless” is no exception.

He met Bella during a visit to Dr. Godwin and fell in love with her at first sight.

Bella used him to get rid of Godwin’s control, but then ran away with others.

After several tossings, he finally returned to him to marry him.

The whole story uses post-modern narrative techniques, consistent with the style of Giorgos Lanthimos.

And this is also after “The Favourite” in 2018, Lanthimos collaborated with Emma Stone again.

The “Poor Things” project will be launched later this year, and the producer is Searchlight Pictures.

The release time is expected to be set for the awards season in 2022.
