As Warner Bros. Discovery looks to continue making films for the theaters, Deadline is reporting that the planned third film in the Magic Mike series, “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” , will now be released theatrically on February 10, 2023.
The move comes following reports that the third Magic Mike was originally planned to release strictly on HBO Max. However, following Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s belief that movies should be more theatrical events, the company is changing course and releasing the new film in theaters before eventually having it land on HBO Max.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance is directed by Steven Soderbergh from a screenplay written by Reid Carolin. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. As of now, Channing Tatum is the only confirmed returning original cast member.
Loosely inspired by Tatum’s own experiences as a stripper, the films previously starred Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash, Gabriel Iglesias, Adam Rodriguez, and more. The franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of nearly $300 million.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance is produced by Carolin, Nick Wechsler, and Peter Kiernan.
