Park Chan-wook-directed classic revenge thriller ‘Oldeuboi’ will be re-released in Northern America.
NEON’s latest announcement that it has acquired the film’s Northern America distribution rights will see a restored version return to theaters next year to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its release, with no specific schedule yet determined.
In November 2003, “Oldeuboi” had a fairly limited release in Northern America, grossing $710,000, which Variety thought was wildly intense and out of step with the increasingly conservative environment of Hollywood at the time.
