All Marvel movies that Disney plans to release in 2022 have been postponed, including “Doctor Strange 2” and “Black Panther 2”.
In fact, all five movies in the fourth phase of the Marvel Universe have been postponed.
The release date of “Indiana Jones 5” has also been postponed for nearly a year, from July 29, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is experiencing a wave of postponements. Projects for Thor 4, Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2, The Marvels, and Ant-Man 3 have been postponed.
The two unnamed Marvel movie projects were completely deleted from the schedule.
The planned change means that there will be only three Marvel movies next year instead of the four originally planned.
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, originally scheduled to be released on March 25, 2022, has been postponed for two months to May 6, 2022.
The release date of “Thor 4: Love and Thunder” has been moved from May 6 to July 8, 2022.
The release date of “Ant-Man 3” was postponed by five months to July 28, 2023. It was originally scheduled to be released on February 17, 2023.
Instead of “Ant-Man 3”, which was released on February 17th, “The Marvels” was originally scheduled to be released on November 11, 2022.
The release date of “Black Panther 2” was postponed by four months. It moved from July 8, 2022 to November 11, 2022.
The current release plan and adjustments of Marvel movies are as follows:
“Eternals” (2021)
Release date: November 5, 2021
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021)
Release date: December 17, 2021
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022)
Release date: March 25, 2022 → May 6, 2022
“Thor: Love and Thunder” (2022)
Release date: May 6, 2022 → July 8, 2022
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (2022)
Release date: July 8, 2022 → November 11, 2022
The Marvels (2023)
Release date: November 11, 2022 → February 17, 2023
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” (2023)
Release date: February 17, 2023 → July 28, 2023
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (2023)
Release date: May 5, 2023
Some media speculated that the large-scale change of the film was due to the impact of the epidemic on the box office, and that it was economically motivated.
Disney’s response to the schedule changes was due to production considerations, not box office returns.
