Disney’s remaining movies in 2021 will not be synchronized on streaming media. The high box office of “Shang-Chi” and other films gives Disney confidence.
A few days ago, Disney announced that the rest of the movies in 2021 will implement the theater-only mode, which means that they will not be simultaneously online streaming.
Before the end of the year, Disney will release blockbusters including “Eternals”, “The Last Duel”, “West Side Story”, “Ron’s Gone Wrong”, “The King’s Man”, etc.
These films will all have a 45-day theater window, which means that Disney+ will not be available until 45 days after they are shown in theaters.
“Encanto” only has a 30-day window to ensure that the film can land on Disney+ on Christmas Eve.
Disney’s move benefited from the excellent box office performance of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “FREE GUY” in this summer.
