“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” Northern America grossed $90 million on Friday (including $36 million early Thursday), breaking the previous May opening held by “Avengers: Age of Ultron” Daily record, ranking 7th on the first day of film history.
The industry estimates that the film will earn about 190 million US dollars at the box office in three days over the weekend, and is expected to hit 200 million US dollars. “Disney” officials conservatively predict that the domestic film will be between 170 and 185 million US dollars.
Regardless of where it ends up being, it’s the best Northern America opening of 2022, second only to the $260 million opening weekend of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” late last year in the pandemic era. The three-day crude report for the weekend is expected to be released tomorrow night.
