The Northern America market remained hot last weekend, with Warner’s new film ‘Elvis’ grossing a rough estimate of $30.5 million in its opening weekend, narrowly losing the top spot to ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ in its fifth week of release.
Another new film ‘The Black Phone’ ranked fourth with $23.37 million, ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ ranked third with $26.44 million, and Northern America accumulated over $300 million.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Northern America accumulated $521 million to maintain its annual crown, and $1.006 billion worldwide to take away the annual crown from ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.

The film is both the first Tom Cruise film to break $1 billion and the second film to break $1 billion at the global box office during the epidemic, the last being ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.
It is worth mentioning that both of these global hits did not land in mainland China.
‘Moulin Rouge’ director Baz Luhrmann directed ‘Elvis,’ starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, about how the young singer shot to fame from a poor family and changed music history.
‘Elvis’ has a Rotten Tomatoes freshness rating of 78% and a CinemaScore audience rating of A-. The film grossed $30.5 million in its opening weekend and has now accumulated over $50 million worldwide.
Compared to Luhrmann’s other works, 2013’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ opened to $50.08 million and 2001’s ‘Moulin Rouge’ opened to $16.75 million.
This performance of ‘Elvis’ is still good, after all, it is a subject that has been shot many times.
Jurassic World: Dominion’ has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score in the series, but Northern America audiences are relatively forgiving of such popcorn fare.
The film took in $26.44 million in its third week of release, and it has accumulated $302 million for Northern America and $746 million worldwide.
Universal’s small-to-medium budget horror release ‘The Black Phone’ ranked fourth with $23.4 million in its opening weekend, a performance that exceeded expectations for an $18 million R-rated production.
The film ‘The Black Phone’ Rotten Tomatoes fresh rating of 84%, CinemaScore rating B + , currently accumulated $ 35.8 million worldwide.
In its second week of release, ‘Lightyear’ grossed only $17.66 million over the weekend, a 65.1% drop from the previous year.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, which is already streaming online, took in $1.72 million in its eighth weekend, with Northern America accumulating $409 million and $947 million worldwide.
