FX hit series ‘Feud: Capote’s Women’ announced a number of actors to join: Tom Hollander , Chloë Sevigny, Diane Lane, Calista Flockhart.
Previously ‘Feud: Capote’s Women’ has been confirmed to star and executive produce Naomi Watts, with Gus Van Sant (‘Good Will Hunting’ ‘My Own Private Idaho’) directing all eight episodes and Jon Robin Baitz (‘Stonewall’) wrote and is running the show.
This season features well-known author Truman Capote (“Breakfast at Tiffany’s”), based on the best-selling book “Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era”
Set in the 1970s, the show will conclude with Capote’s death in 1984, telling the story of the teenage author who “backstabbed” his multiple female friends – whom he called “swans “.
After the huge success of ‘In Cold Blood’, Capote became a popular figure in New York’s high society, with many confidants, the so-called “swans”, and his social circle included Babe Paley, wife of Bill Paley, the head of CBS at the time.
And Capote published his famous short story “La Côte Basque 1965” in Esquire magazine in 1975, insinuating the private lives and secrets of his multiple female friends, including scandals such as adultery and murder.
After the story was published, all of Capote’s “swans” broke with him, and his reputation and social connections were destroyed.
Hollander as Capote, Watts as Babe Paley, the “first lady of New York” in the 1960s and 1970s, and Sevigny as the costume designer
