After the first season of “Feud: Bette and Joan”, the FX hit “Feud: Bette and Joan” announced the second season of “Feud: Capote’s Women,” yet another new story.
“Feud: Capote’s Women” stars Naomi Watts and is directed by renowned director Gus Van Sant (“Good Will Hunting” “My Own Private Idaho”) for all eight episodes, with Jon Robin Baitz writing and running the show.
This season focuses on well-known author Truman Capote (“Breakfast at Tiffany’s”), and Watts plays Babe Paley, the “first lady of New York” of the 1960s and 1970s.
Based on the bestseller Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era, “Feud: Capote’s Women” is set in the 1970s and will end with Capote’s death in 1984.
The series tells the story of how this teenage writer “backstabbed” his multiple female friends – beings he called “swans”.
After the huge success of “In Cold Blood”, Capote became a red man in New York high society, with many confidantes, the so-called “swans”, and his social circle also included Babe Paley, the wife of then CBS head Bill Paley.
In 1975, Capote published the famous short story “La Côte Basque 1965” in “Esquire” magazine, alluding to the private lives and secrets of many of his female friends, including adultery, murder and other scandals.
After the story was published, all of Capote’s “swans” cut ties with him, and his reputation and social ties were ruined.
The show is currently casting around the world to play Capote, and is approaching Oscar-caliber actors to play his female friends, including Slim Keith, Pamela Churchill Harriman, Lee Radziwill, Gloria Guinness and C.Z. Guest.
The second season of “Feud: Bette and Joan” had previously planned to feature the unhappy marriage between Britain’s Prince Charles and Princess Diana, but the idea failed to materialize.
