Michelle Williams and Jude Law will co-star in the historical thriller “Firebrand”.
“Firebrand” is set in the Tudor court, with Michelle Williams playing the Queen of England Catherine Parr.
Jude Law plays her husband, the brutal King Henry VIII.
“Firebrand” will unfold the story from the perspective of Queen Catherine Parr.
She is the last of Henry VIII’s six wives.
She tried to convert the king to Protestants, and many Protestants were arrested, tortured and executed.
“Firebrand” is directed by Brazilian director Karim Ainouz (“The Invisible Life of Euridice Gusmão”).
“Kill Eve” screenwriter Jessica Ashworth and Henrietta Ashworth wrote the script.
“Firebrand” is the first English film directed by Karim Ainouz.
The director said: “I am extremely excited to be able to bring the undiscovered story of Catherine Parr to the screen. She is a talented woman and I am deeply inspired by her, but in British history, she is to a large extent It’s not known, or it’s not fully displayed.”
“Firebrand” is scheduled to start shooting in 2022 and will be released in 2023.
