According to media reports, Paramount Pictures will remake Tong-Seok Ma’s 2019 Korean action crime film ‘The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil’ starring Tong-Seok Ma.
Sylvester Stallone’s company Balboa Productions will be involved in the production, Tong-Seok Ma will return to continue to play the “gang boss”, the film is still in the early stages of development.
The Korean version of ‘The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil’, directed by Lee Won Tae, was released in South Korea in May 2019 and collected $22.6 million at the local box office, with notable word-of-mouth performance.
The film tells the story of a gangster (Tong-Seok Ma) who is attacked by a serial killer (Sungkyu Kim). After surviving the attack, the gangster teams up with a cop (Moo-yeol Kim) by accident and goes after the killer.
Tong-Seok Ma spent some time in the United States before entering the Korean entertainment industry and worked as a trainer for many fighters in his early years. Last year, he appeared in the Marvel superhero movie ‘Eternals’.
This year, the movie ‘The Roundup’ starring him broke 10 million viewers in Korea (currently over 12 million), the highest Korean movie record since the epidemic.
