The Guillermo del Toro version of “Pinocchio” has been in preparation for more than ten years, but almost nothing is known about this film.
In an interview recently, Ron Perlman, one of the leading actors of “Pinocchio”, announced that the background of the film will be set in Italy under Mussolini.
Ron Perlman said: “Guillermo’s “Pinocchio” will take place in Mussolini’s time. This is a fascist era. In the story, Pinocchio is a perfect soldier because it is not a real human. So he He never questioned the orders he was given, and he has no fear. Its obedience and meaninglessness are the qualities that a perfect soldier must possess.”
From Ron Perlman’s rhetoric, the film will be a major adaptation of the original fairy tale of “Pinocchio”, and the fascist background setting is similar to Guillermo del Toro’s previous “Pans Labyrinth”.

According to Guillermo del Toro’s usual dark movie style, his “Pinocchio” is still a fairy tale with horror.
Pinocchio’s adventure is actually an illusion, the Blue Fairy is the ghost of a dead girl, and the story of the adventure will also make people frightening.
In terms of voice actors, Pinocchio’s voice work will be handed over to the young actor Gregory Mann.
In supporting roles, David Bradley, Finn Wolfhard, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman will all appear in the film.
In Guillermo del Toro’s plan, this work is a stop-motion animation.
Stop-motion Animation’s performance at the box office over the years is very mediocre. Therefore, “Pinocchio” had previously encountered unsuccessful auctions and delayed it for more than ten years.
And this is not the only “Pinocchio” movie, Robert Zemeckis is shooting a live-action version of “Pinocchio”.
At present, the copyright of “Pinocchio” of Guillermo del Toro has been taken by Netflix. In Netflix’s plan, the film will be available online in the last quarter of 2022.
