‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off drama ‘House of the Dragon’ releases a special featurette that takes a closer look at the Targaryen family, known for their beauty and blood and fire, as a new epic story opens, starting on August 21.
‘House of the Dragon’s House of the Dragon’ castmember has Matt Smith (‘Doctor Who’) as Prince Daemon Targaryen, the king’s brother and heir to the throne, an unrivaled warrior & dragon rider. He carries the blood of a true dragon, “but it is said that when each Targaryen family member was born, the gods tossed a coin into the air”.
Olivia Cooke (‘Ready Player One’) as Alicent Hightower, daughter of Otto Hightower, the most beautiful woman in the Seven Kingdoms, who grew up in the Red Keep, close to King Viserys and his circle of cronies, both gentle and elegant, but also with strong political acumen.
Emma D’Arcy (‘Truth Seekers’) as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the king’s first child, a pure-blooded VaRiley subhuman who also excels at riding dragons, “many would say she’s gifted, but not a man. “
Paddy Considine (‘Peaky Blinders’ ‘The Outsider’) plays King Viserys Targaryen (Viserys I), chosen to inherit the throne of Jaehaerys Targaryen, a warm, kind and decent man, bent on carrying forward his grandfather’s legacy, but a good man does not always make a good king.
Steve Toussaint (‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’) plays “The Sea Snake” Corlys Velaryon, a great seafarer.
Rhys Ifans (‘The Amazing Spider-Man’) as the knight Otto Hightower.
The show focuses on the story of House of Targaryen and will involve its famous bloody civil war ‘Danceof the Dragons’, back in time more than 200 years ago.
‘House of the Dragon’ adapted from George Raymond Richard Martin’s book ‘Fire & Blood’, Martin and Ryan Condal co-developed, Season 110 episodes, directors include multiple episodes of ‘Game of Thrones’ such as Battle of the Bastards’ ‘The Winds of Winter’ director Miguel Sapochnik and others.
