Jennifer Jason Leigh and Ariana DeBose join Chris Pine’s directorial debut “Poolman”, along with Pine herself, Annette Bening, and Danny DeVito. Filming will begin in June.
The script is co-written by Pine and Ian Gotler, and the film will pay tribute to Los Angeles with classics such as “Chinatown” and “La La Land” set in Los Angeles.
Pine plays Darren Barrenman, a hapless, dreamy, aspiring philosopher who spends his days cleaning up the swimming pool in Los Angeles’ Tahitian Totem apartment complex, and uninviting himself with two neighbors, Jack and Diane (DeVito and Bening). Attend a city council meeting.
And then, Barrenman discovers that Los Angeles is facing its biggest water robbery since “Chinatown.”
To do so, he strikes a precarious partnership with a well-connected femme fatale, and deals with corrupt city officials, disheartened Hollywood nerds, and mysterious donors to track down every clue in his hands— In the name of “Protect My Precious Los Angeles”.
