John Williams returns with Obi-Wan. ‘Variety’ Exclusive: Iconic “Star Wars” soundtrack and legendary film scorer John Williams has recorded Obi-Wan Kenobi’s theme soundtrack for new drama ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ It was completed last week under strict security with a Los Angeles orchestra.
It’s also a rare episode of Williams’ vocals, and it’s unclear if he wrote a new theme for “Obi-Wan Kenobi” or if it’s from/adapted from music he wrote for two generations of the character in previous films.
He did not create the soundtrack for the 6-episode “Obi-Wan Kenobi” episode, and it has not been revealed who it is, only that it should have been recorded in London.
“Obi-Wan Kenobi” will be available on Disney+ starting May 25 this year. Ewan McGregor returns as Jedi Master Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen returns as Darth Vader, directed by Deborah Chow (“The Mandalorian”), set 10 years after “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”.
Spokespeople for Disney and Lucasfilm did not respond to the report.
