After leaving Hollywood for 18 years, the famous Chinese director John Woo finally returned to Hollywood with his latest action film “Silent Night”. It is understood that John Woo’s latest masterpiece was completed in Mexico City a few days ago.
If all goes well, this will be John Woo’s return to Hollywood to direct a new film after 18 years after directing Ben Affleck’s “Paycheck” in 2003.
John Woo’s Hollywood career is best known for “FACE/OFF” “Windtalkers” starring Nicolas Cage, “Paycheck” starring Ben Affleck and Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible II.”
Meanwhile, it’s also John Woo’s first film since 2017’s “Manhunt” and his ninth Hollywood film.
The film tells the story of a father’s revenge against the gangster for the death of his son. It is the type of commercial action film that John Woo is good at. The biggest gimmick of the film is that there is not a single line in the whole film.
For John Woo, “Silent Night” was an interesting attempt. The fact that the film does not contain any dialogue will help the film appeal to the international market, as it does not require translation.
This will give John Woo a chance to showcase his cinematic aesthetic and prove that he is still a top-notch director.
