Joss Whedon Responds to “Justice League” Gal Gadot and Ray Fisher Allegations

Filmmaker and director Joss Whedon has broken his silence for the first time publicly responding to allegations of misconduct by the cast of the film “Justice League,” according to media reports.

In a character interview published Monday by New York magazine, Joss Whedon responded to allegations made by actors Gal Gadot and Ray Fisher about some of their actions during the filming of “Justice League.”

In the summer of 2020, Ray Fisher, who played “Cyborg” in “Justice League”, posted a post criticizing director Joss Whedon’s rude, abusive and unprofessional attitude towards actors and staff on set.

Subsequently, “Aquaman” actor Jason Momoa posted a post in support of Ray Fisher, and “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot also said that he had been threatened by Joss Whedon to ruin his career.

In a lengthy interview with New York Magazine on Monday, Joss Whedon denied Gal Gadot’s allegations that he “threatened” his career.

“I don’t threaten people, who would do that?” Joss Whedon said. “English is not her first language, and I tend to talk a lot, and it does get a little offensive.”

Joss Whedon once joked to Gadot that she had to tie Whedon’s body to the rails before he would cut a scene she wanted to cut. Gadot misunderstood that Whedon was threatening to tie her to the rails on the rails.

Joss Whedon was less forgiving of Ray Fisher.

In the interview, Joss Whedon stated that he graced the entire “Justice League” film, including the appearance of all the actors and how his role changed after he spoke to Ray Fisher for hours.

Joss Whedon said he intentionally scaled back Ray Fisher’s role because “Cyborg”‘s storyline “makes no sense logically” and because Ray Fisher wasn’t doing well.

He denied Ray Fisher’s allegations, saying they were “not worth discussing.” Instead, Joss Whedon claimed that Ray Fisher’s actions were dishonest and intended to tarnish his reputation.

“We’re talking about a force of evil,” Joss Whedon said. “We’re talking about a bad actor in a double sense.”

Later on Monday morning, Ray Fisher directly refuted Joss Whedon’s statement via Twitter.

“Looks like Joss Whedon is going to direct an ending…” wrote Ray Fisher. “Today, instead of refuting all the lies and jokes, I’m celebrating Martin Luther King Day. Tomorrow, keep working.”
