Karen Gillan, Margaret Sophie Stein, Jermaine Fowler, Kevin Nealon and Talia Balsam will star in the new comedy film ‘Late Bloomers’, Lisa Steen’s feature film directorial debut, which has been wrapped in New York.
Steen’s co-star in several short films, Anna Greenfield, wrote the script, which is based on her experiences living in Brooklyn in her 20s.
‘Late Bloomers’ follows Louise (Gillan), an aimless millennial who one day drunkenly falls on her hip and undergoes physical therapy for it, where she befriends an older Polish woman who doesn’t speak English and they become BFFs.
And it was this unlikely friendship that gave Louise the courage to face what she had been avoiding: her mother’s early-onset Alzheimer’s.
Fowler plays Louise’s Craigslist roommate and landlord Brick, with Nealon and Balsam as her parents.
