Keanu Reeves donates 70% of The Matrix to cancer research institutions

According to media reports, Keanu Reeves received US$45 million in film remuneration in 1999 for “The Matrix” (including a prepayment of US$10 million in remuneration and a dividend of US$35 million).

And he directly donated 70% of his income (31.5 million US dollars) to the leukemia research institution, all of which is related to his sister Kim Reeves.

Keanu Reeves’s sister, Kim Reeves, was diagnosed with leukemia in 1991. When “The Matrix” was released in 1999, she had been fighting the disease for many years.

After Kim’s condition improved, Keanu Reeves continued to donate to cancer research and established his own non-profit foundation to support cancer patients and children.

But he did not associate his reputation with the agency, and he did not disclose this until 2009.

When Keanu Reeves talked about this publicly, he confirmed that he “has a private foundation that has been in operation for five or six years, and it will help some children’s hospitals and cancer research.”

And he “don’t like to put his name on it, just let it do what it should do.”

In addition, Keanu Reeves also auctioned a 15-minute Zoom connection opportunity with him in 2020.

The exchange was finally sold at a price of more than 19,000 U.S. dollars, and all the proceeds were donated to the Idaho summer program for children with cancer-Rainbow Gold Summer Camp.
