According to media reports, ‘The Invisible Man’ director Leigh Whannell is in talks to direct Universal Pictures’ new version of ‘The Green Hornet’ film ‘The Green Hornet and Kato’. Spider-Man’ ‘Jurassic Park’ screenwriter David Koepp is in charge of the script.
The role of Britt Reid, ‘The Green Hornet’, first appeared in a radio play of the same name in 1936, and was later adapted into a feature film by Universal in 1940.
Bruce Lee first appeared as “Kato” in the 1966 American drama version of “Green Hornet” produced by 20th Century Fox Television.
In the 2011 Sony film version of Green Hornet, Seth Rogen and Jay Chou played Green Hornet and Kato respectively, which had been introduced to mainland China.
Green Hornet is actually Britt Reid, an American newspaper magnate who wears a green mask and fights crime with a gun. He and his Asian assistant Kato drive around the city in a futuristic modified car called “the Black Beauty”.
In addition to the new version of the film, Kevin Smith is also developing a “Green Hornet” animated series.
The series will reconstruct the adventures of Green Hornet and Kato, set in modern times, and will feature Green Hornet’s son and Kato’s daughter, who work together to fight crime and will also showcase the car “the Black Beauty”.
