“The Master” and “There Will Be Blood” director Paul Thomas Anderson accepted an exclusive interview with “Variety” magazine to promote his new work “Licorice Pizza” and talked about what movies he has watched recently.
Paul Thomas Anderson thinks “Shang-Chi” is very happy and also likes “Venom 2” very much. The whole family is obsessed with Marvel movies.
Although the films he made are more serious, Paul Thomas Anderson does not reject Marvel.
“‘Shang-Chi’ is very joyful, there is a great energy in it. My family is obsessed with Marvel movies. It is very exciting for us to continue the Marvel journey. I like “Venom 2.”
At the same time, he also said: “Titane (the Palme d’Or at Cannes this year) is worth watching, but it’s not a movie that everyone will like, and I don’t know how to recommend it. I’m not even sure how I think about this movie. But it is definitely the work of a real filmmaker. I watched the trailer of “King Richard” and it was released. I will be the first person to queue to watch. I really like Will Smith in “The Pursuit of Happyness” Performance in the house.”
Paul Thomas Anderson emphasized that he is very concerned about the works of his colleagues, “It is stupid not to support other filmmakers. With age, there is no sense of competition, because other people’s good films will help the industry. People, good movies will give birth to more good movies.”
“Licorice Pizza” stars Cooper Hoffman, 18-year-old son of Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, and rock singer Alana Haim.
