Magnolia Pictures has secured the U.S. distribution rights to the epic ‘The King’s Land’ starring Mads Mikkelsen, which will begin shooting in Denmark, Germany and the Czech Republic in September.
Based on the Danish bestseller Kaptajnen og Ann Barbara, “The King’s Land” is a “brilliant tale of the conquest of the Danish wilderness”.
“The King’s Land” is set in the mid-17th century and revolves around King Frederick V of Denmark, who declares that the wilds of Jutland should be tamed, cultivated, and colonized so that civilization can spread and new taxes can be collected for the royal family.
“En kongelig affære” with Mikkelsen is directed by Nikolaj Arcel, written by Anders Thomas Jensen (“Retfærdighedens ryttere””Efter brylluppet”), and starring Amanda Collin (“Raised by Wolves”).
