Ana de Armas’ highly-anticipated Marilyn Monroe biopic ‘Blonde’, directed by Andrew Dominik, will be available on Netflix on September 23.
Joyce Carol Oates, the original author of the novel on which ‘Blonde’ is based, recently told the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland that she had seen the film and commented, “Andrew Dominik is a very masterful director, and I think he managed to show Norma Jeane Baker’s (Monroe) experience from her point of view, rather than looking at a woman from the outside, with a male gaze, he immersed himself in her perspective.”
Dominik has revealed that the film is critical of what Americans consider to be “unacceptable” and that the Metoo movement made the film possible: “Because people are not interested in that kind of shit. -What it’s like to be an unloved girl, what it’s like to be run through the meat grinder of Hollywood.”
