Marvel Studios will reduce the frequency of episodes, only ‘Secret Invasion’ and ‘Loki Season 2’ in 2023?

According to media reports, under Disney’s general policy of cost savings, Marvel Studios will adjust its direction and reduce the number of episodes launched, with several episodes scheduled to be delayed. This year there will only be ‘Secret Invasion’ and ‘Loki’ Season 2 two episodes online.

Robert A. Iger, who returns as Disney CEO, said earlier that Disney needs to better manage the output of its IP content and wants to focus on quality on screen, while also taking care to control their costs.

Kevin Feige also made clear in his interview with ‘Entertainment Weekly’ the change in direction for Marvel episodes, that the fifth and sixth phases of MCU episodes will be paced, with fewer episodes released each year and longer intervals between airings.

Last year, Marvel Studios’ planned episodes for Disney+ in 2023 included ‘Secret Invasion’, ‘What If…? Season 2’ ‘Loki Season 2’ ‘Echo’ ‘Ironheart’ ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’. According to the media ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, only two shows, ‘Secret Invasion’ and ‘Loki Season 2’, are scheduled to be released this year.

‘Echo’ ‘Ironheart’, which finished filming a few months ago, may not go live this year, with Marvel Studios looking to have a longer interval between airings, as well as some tweaks in post-production. For some of the new shows in development, such as ‘Nova’, there will now be a slowdown as well.

Marvel Studios has released a massive 18 movies and TV shows in Phase 4 (4 movies and 5 TV shows in 2021 and 3 movies and 3 TV shows in 2022, plus a few specials).

Industry insiders say that Disney’s move is a “massive adjustment” to the entertainment industry’s strategy of trying to win with volume by throwing money at the streaming sector over the past few years.
