Echo, formerly known as Maya Lopez, is a deaf Native American who can perfectly mimic the movements or fighting styles of others, which makes her a formidable opponent.
In the comic Lopez was 9 years old when her father was killed by Kingpin, who raised her and used lies to convince her that the real killer of her father was Daredevil.
Lopez was sent by Kingpin to meet with Matt Murdock and the two fell in love without knowing he was Daredevil, during which she took the alias ‘Echo’ and the costume featured a white handprint on her face to commemorate her father touching her face with his hand before he died.
Lopez, who later learned the truth, confronted Kingpin, blinded him with a gun, left the United States, and returned again as ‘Ronin’.
Echo was the first person to hold the title ‘Ronin’ and later passed it on to Hawkeye, who briefly used it after losing his family in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and breaking away from The Avengers.
