Recently, “The King’s Man” director Matthew Vaughn said in an interview with The Wrap website that he still wants to make a Superman movie starring Henry Cavill, but the tone should be “colorful and interesting” instead of a dark one.
“I wanted to make a Superman movie before, and I was very eager. Warner proposed a Superman movie to the film before making “Man of Steel”. Not long ago, I just collaborated with Henry Cavill in the new film “Argylle”. Especially good, his performance is great. I feel that there is still a chance to make a Superman movie, but it must be a suitable Superman movie. A colorful and interesting Superman movie, not a dark one.”
Matthew Vaughn once again expressed his incomprehension of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as a sequel to Man of Steel.
“Putting Batman’s temperament into Superman’s world” is a mistake, in his opinion it is difficult to connect the two.
He cited “Batman: The Dark Knight”, Richard Donner’s “Superman” and “Wonder Woman” as examples, and said that “Wonder Woman” can succeed because it is a remake of Donner’s “Superman”.
Matthew Vaughn expressed his personal views on the future Superman movie (later “Man of Steel”) in an MTV interview in 2010.
“I think the serious temperament of the “Dark Knight” series does not apply to “Superman.” Superman should be a more sunny character, at least for me.”
