The much-anticipated sequel, “Meg 2: The Trench,” has expanded the film’s cast yet again. It is understood that British actress Sienna Guillory, American Skyler Samuels and Spanish actor Sergio Peris-Mencheta will all join the crew.
Most of the original cast will return, including the indispensable Jason Statham. He played the shark researcher in the original and contributed a lot of action.
Based on the novel of the same name by author Steve Alten, the two male protagonists work together to capture a megalodon roaming the California coastline.
The original “The Meg” was shot in 2018 and was a Sino-American co-production in which Bingbing Li also played a role.

At that time, after the film was released, the reputation was average, but the box office was good. The world eventually took in $530 million at the box office.
It is reported that Warners was very concerned about the plan of “The Meg” long before the hit “Jurassic World” hit the box office, and the success of “Jurassic World” seems to have accelerated the progress of Warners’ promotion of “The Meg”.
