“Shūkan Bunshun” recently broke the news that Naomi Kawase, a well-known female director who has been nominated many times at international film festivals, raped the cameraman on the set of “True Mothers” three years ago.
It is reported that the assistant cameraman at the time found that there was a problem with the direction of the slate, and wanted to reach out to correct it, but accidentally touched the body of director Naomi Kawase.
Naomi Kawase reacted violently, turning back and shouting “what are you doing” before kicking the photographer in the stomach angrily.
Shortly after, director of photography Yûta Tsukinaga withdrew from the film and Naoki sakakibara took over.
When interviewed by the “Shūkan Bunshun” reporter, director Naomi Kawase did not deny the matter and did not think he was at fault.
