It seems that the recent big news are related to the “Resident Evil” IP, before the “Resident Evil 4 Remake” released in 2023, and after the “Resident Evil Village” to be launched on PSVR2. But it is clear that Netflix’s live-action “Resident Evil” episodes have not received much praise.
The long-awaited live-action series titled “Resident Evil” released its first trailer yesterday, which shows a dystopian utopian city of the future.
But fans are clearly not buying it, as of this posting, the video has about 442,000 views on YouTube, with more than 13,000 likes, but also more than 28,000 dislikes.
Most of the criticism is focused on the episode’s reckless magic plot, rather than retelling the game’s classic story or bringing back classic characters.
Top comments: “I can’t imagine that Capcom’s recent “Resident Evil” game remake is so successful and the live-action adaptation is such a failure”, “How hard is it to give us a show that is entirely based on the game’s plot, and this trailer has a hint of Follow the storyline of the original game? Even using the “Resident Evil 7/8″ game plot is better than the current one.”
According to a synopsis released by Netflix in 2020, the show will feature the “Wesker kids” as they discover the secrets within New Raccoon City.
Albert Wesker is one of the main villains in the “Resident Evil” games. Netflix said, “When the Wesker kids move to New Raccoon City, the secrets they uncover might just be the end of everything.”
“Resident Evil” will premiere on Netflix on July 14, with one-hour episodes each.
