New American drama “Gaslit” starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn released a preview, it focuses on President Nixon’s Watergate scandal

“Gaslit” series creator Sam Esmail, who made “Mr. Robot” (he’s also Emmy Rossum’s husband), focuses on the untold stories, and forgotten characters of President Nixon’s “Watergate scandal” .

The series is based on the 2017 podcast show “Slow Burn”.

The “Watergate scandal” is one of the most disgraceful political scandals in American history, and it has a long-lasting impact on American history and the entire international press.

In the 1972 presidential election, in order to obtain intelligence on the Democratic Party’s internal campaign strategy, on June 17, five people, led by James W. McCord, Jr., the chief security adviser to the Republican Nixon campaign team, infiltrated the Watergate Building in Washington. The Democratic National Committee’s office was arrested on the spot when they installed bugs and secretly filmed relevant documents.

As a result of this, Nixon announced on August 8, 1974 that he would resign the next day, thus becoming the first president in American history to resign because of a scandal.
