Northern America box office: ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‎’ premiere drives Northern America movie market record

On July 10, Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‎’ debuted in theaters, pushing Northern America’s weekend box office past $200 million.

Northern America box office statistics website boxofficemojo.com released the latest movie market data on July 10, 24 films in Northern America this weekend box office (July 8 to 10) reported about $ 236 million, up 24% from the previous year.

This is the first time since January 2020 that Northern America’s weekend box office has stayed above $100 million for seven consecutive weekends, and the second time in a month that it has surpassed $200 million. The film debuted in Northern America on July 8 and grossed approximately $143 million in three days, accounting for more than 60% of all Northern America’s box office in that statistical period. In addition, the musical biographical drama ‘Elvis’ retired to No. 4 on this period’s list with about $11 million at the weekend box office and has grossed about $155 million worldwide so far.

The sci-fi adventure action film ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ dropped to No. 5 at the weekend box office with about $8.41 million and has grossed about $876 million worldwide so far.

It is worth noting that ‘Marcel the Shell with Shoes On’, which opened in small theaters on June 24, has only a double-digit number of theaters to collect about $340,000 at the weekend box office, rising to No. 8 on the list, which is the film with the fewest number of theaters in this round of the top 10 weekend box office.

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On’ has a 99% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it will be released in wide release on July 15.

In the new week, the animated film ‘The Deer King’ will have a small release on July 13; the thriller drama ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’, based on the best-selling suspense novel, and the animated comedy ‘Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank’ will open in theaters on the 15th.
