The ‘Star Wars’ spin-off ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ was originally positioned as a movie trilogy and starred Ewan McGregor.
In an interview with The Direct, ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ acclaimed screenwriter Stuart Beattie revealed that he did not actually work with the production team, but was responsible for writing the script for the first of the planned ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ trilogy of films.
He added that both Disney and Ewan McGregor agreed to do a trilogy at the time.
They based the play on a movie I wrote,” Stuart Beattie said. “It took me a year and a half.’ After Solo: A Star Wars Story’ was released, the company decided not to make any more spin-off movies, and I then left the project to do other things.
“(Executive producer Joby Harold) took over my script and turned it from two hours to six hours. So I didn’t work with them at all, I just get some credit for the show because they’re all my stuff.”
Stuart Beattie said he was sad when the trilogy was canceled because Disney and Lucasfilm shifted the ‘Star Wars’ series from movies to TV shows.
