Oscar Organizing Committee Discusses Punishing Will Smith Today, Chris Rock didn’t know Smith’s wife was losing hair

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organizing committee of the Oscars, decided to hold a video conference ahead of schedule today to discuss how to punish Will Smith for hitting someone on stage at the Oscars.

With Will Smith resigning from the academy earlier, the option of expulsion no longer exists, and academy president David Rubin said: “It is in the best interests of all parties involved to deal with this in a timely manner.”

Chris Rock’s younger brother, Tony Rock, issued a statement a few days ago saying that Rock didn’t know Jada Pinkett Smith was losing his hair because of the disease until Oscar told the joke.

“The joke was funny, but not funny. If Chris Rock knew she had hair loss…he wouldn’t have joked about it, but he didn’t know it in advance!”

Ricky Gervais, a five-time Ballon d’Or supporter, also often makes jokes at awards shows. In his opinion, it’s not right for Smith to hit someone for a joke, and Chris Rock’s joke isn’t that offensive.

“You can’t hit someone for a joke, no matter how bad it is. And it’s not that bad, it’s pretty bland compared to the jokes I’ve told.”

Earlier Ricky Gervais even said in stand-up comedy: “Someone asked, what would happen if I hosted the Oscars? Of course I would make fun of his wife’s hair. I would even make fun of her boyfriend (hip-hop singer August Alsina). )joke.”

The insider told “U.S. News & World Report”: “Will Smith knew the road to redemption would be long and painful, and he gradually accepted that he could never fully make up for the damage he caused before.”

A source told the outlet that the Smiths are no longer publicly responding to the incident “to avoid further attention”, knowing that the best response for now is to “keep your mouth shut” and allow time to dilute everything.
