‘Dumb Money’, a new film focusing on the “American retail investor vs. Wall Street” GameStop fiasco, is set to star Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, Pete Davidson.
The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (‘Cruella’ ‘Pam & Tommy’) and will start shooting in October.
‘Dumb Money’ is based on the new book ‘The Antisocial Network’ by Ben Mezrich (‘The Social Network’) and focuses on the ‘rise of the players’, amateurs versus professionals.
It focuses on how retail investors on Reddit’s WallStreetBets section (the title ‘Dumb Money’ is a play on individual investors) rallied in a forum against Wall Street, sending the shares of companies like GameStop, which were in a dead end, soaring while the hedge funds they were fighting against suffered huge losses, and the in-depth investigation that ensued.
