Florence Pugh stars in the psychological thriller ‘The Wonder’ which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and go live on Netflix later in the year.
Sebastián Lelio (‘Una mujer fantástica’ ‘Gloria’) directed the film, based on the novel of the same name by Irish writer Emma Donoghue (‘Room’), with a script by Alice Birch ( ‘Lady Macbeth’ ‘Normal People’) wrote the screenplay.
The film tells the story of 1859 in central Ireland, British nurse Lib Wright came to a small village to observe a girl did not eat for months but still survived, some people think it is a medical anomaly, others think it is a miracle.
Tourists flock to see 11-year-old Anna O’Donnell, while a reporter comes to cover the sensational story of two strangers who end up changing each other’s lives through a battle of love and evil.
