A reboot of the action thriller ‘Road House’ starring Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Doug Liman has been announced. The film, produced by Amazon, will be available for streaming and will feature the acting debut of mixed martial artist Conor McGregor in an original role not his own.
Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter who works as a bouncer at a cluttered hotel in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.
The cast also includes Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage and others, with Anthony Bagarozzi (‘The Nice Guys’) and Chuck Mondry writing the screenplay.
The original 1989 version, directed by Rowdy Herrington and starring Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch, Sam Elliott and Ben Gazzara, tells the story of Dalton, a capable and popular bouncer who moves to a small Missouri town to help straighten out a disorganized bar and in the process exposes the corrupt practices of a local bully businessman corrupt practices.
