Renée Zellweger starring in the NBC true crime limited series “The Thing About Pam” released the official trailer, it will be broadcast on March 8th.
Judy Greer, Josh Duhamel, Katy Mixon and others also star, with Jenny Klein (“Supernatural” “The Witcher”) serving as the executive.
“The Thing About Pam” is set in the murder of Betsy Faria (Mixon), an American woman who was originally convicted of Betsy’s husband, Russell, who insists he didn’t kill his wife.
Later, police re-investigated and found that the perpetrator was Betsy’s friend Pam Hupp (Zellweger), who had a vicious plan to carry out this brutal crime.
Pam was the sole beneficiary of Betsy’s life insurance policy as the Farias’ marriage broke down and were preparing for divorce.
After killing Betsy, Pam killed the man Louis Gumpenberger at home in order to divert the police’s attention, but claimed that Louis tried to kidnap her and take the insurance money for himself.
Pam pleaded guilty in 2019, was sentenced to life without parole, and is currently serving time at the Chillikosi Correctional Center in Missouri.
Duhamel plays Russell’s defense attorney, Joel Schwartz. Greer plays Leah Askey, the former Lincoln County prosecutor who tried Russell twice on the case.
