“The Last Duel”, a costume action film directed by Ridley Scott and featuring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jodie Comer and Adam Driver, failed at the box office.
“The Last Duel” invested more than 100 million U.S. dollars, but the global box office of the film was only 27 million U.S. dollars.
Ridley Scott said when accepting Marc Maron’s podcast recently that he did not blame the distributor Disney.
“I think in the final analysis-this film didn’t work at the box office because of the problems of the audience who grew up with mobile phones. 2000s didn’t want to learn anything unless you told him on the phone.”
“Of course this is a broad generalization. Just like Facebook has become a problem now, the perception of millennials has become a problem. (Mobile Internet relying on mobile phones) is misleading, and it gives this generation wrong confidence. “
But for the box office failure, Ridley Scott did not feel too frustrated.
He said: “I decided to make this movie, and Fox decided to invest. We all thought the script was good, and then we made it. You can’t sell at the box office every time. I made so many movies, Never regretted it.”
“I learned to self-review very early. The only thing you should care about is what you just did and look forward. Make sure you are happy and don’t look back, that’s me.”
Ridley Scott will soon turn 84, and his “The House of Gucci” will be released on November 24.
Next, he will also direct the biopics “Kitbag” and “Gladiator 2” about Napoleon.
At the same time, Ridley Scott also needs to supervise the series of “Blade Runner” and “Alien”, and the second season of his “Raised by Wolves” is also being filmed.
