After Daniel Craig wrapped up his 15-year James Bond journey in No Time to Die, the search for the next Bond is set to begin in 2022. Who will be the next James Bond?
According to industry sources cited by Deadline reporter Justin Kroll, news about the casting could be announced as soon as March.
In a tweet, Justin Kroll said a source revealed that fans can expect an announcement “after the Oscars.”
However, he also cautioned against this rumor. If the rumors are true, it means we’ll hear about the next Bond before long.
While there are no solid clues as to who might be the next Bond, there is plenty of speculation among industry insiders and commentators.
Former Bond, Pierce Brosnan, said in 2019 that he would like to see a woman play Bond.
But “007” series producer Barbara Broccoli has said that as long as she is still in charge of the film, Bond will always be male.
Daniel Craig echoed these sentiments, arguing that instead of having a woman play Bond, “it should be as good as James Bond, but for a woman.”
As for who will play the next Bond, producer Barbara Broccoli said that at this point all that can be said is that the actor must be British, but he can be of any nationality or race.
When asked this question recently, Pierce Brosnan came up with two names he thinks are good enough for Bond actors – Idris Elba and Tom Hardy.
Additionally, Tom Holland has previously recommended himself for the role. He said he was very “happy to be James Bond”.
John Boyega also expressed interest in the role. So did Henry Cavill, the star of The Witcher.
However, until the official announcement is made, no one can be sure who the character will be.
