Showtime’s lavish lineup of dramas ‘The First Lady’ has been cancelled and there is no Season 2. The show focuses on the wives of the U.S. presidents over the years – the “First Ladies” – and reshapes American leadership through the perspective of these women at the heart of the White House.
The first season features Viola Davis as Michelle LaVaughn Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford, and Gillian Anderson as Anna Eleanor Roosevelt.
The show was created by Aaron Cooley and directed by Susanne Bier (‘The Undoing’ ‘The Night Manager’) and executive produced with Davis.
‘The First Lady’ Season 1 started on April 17 this year with lukewarm feedback.
