Recently, a 4K restored poster of the classic musical “Singin’ in the Rain” has been exposed. 2022 is the 70th anniversary of the film’s release. The 4K restored version will also be screened in the classic restoration section of the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
The restoration employs cutting-edge image correction and image separation techniques, and uses the original sound source provided by MGM to create a new 5.1-channel mix.
Set against the backdrop of Hollywood’s transition from the silent era to the talkie era, the film tells the love story between Hollywood actor Don and chorus girl Kathy.
The film was released in the United States on March 27, 1952. In 1989, the film was placed in the Library of Congress by the National Film Registry.
In 2006, the film was selected as number one in the “25 Greatest Musical Movies” by the American Film Institute. In 2007, the American Film Institute selected the “100 Greatest Movies”, and the film ranked 5th.
