The studio is working on a one-man film about Marvel superhero “El Muerto,” starring rapper “Bad Bunny” Bad Bunny, slated for release in January 2024, Sony announced at its CinemaCon recommendation conference.
This is the first Latino superhero in the Sony Marvel Universe.
El Muerto, who has only appeared in the comics twice so far, is a wrestler with superpowers who nearly ripped off Spider-Man’s mask when he faced off against Spider-Man in a charity wrestling match.
Later, the two teamed up to defeat El Muerto’s nemesis, Dorado.
Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny starred in the third season of “Narcos: Mexico” as Kitty.
Since 2021, Bad Bunny has participated in multiple wrestling events, including WWE WrestleMania, and combined with his Latino identity, is undoubtedly the perfect choice to play fellow wrestler superhero El Muerto.
