‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ on track to surpass ‘Avatar’ at the North American box office

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” lost to new film “Scream 5” for its fifth weekend in North America.

But without a major new release, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” returned to the top spot with $14 million in its sixth weekend.

In its seventh weekend it is on track for its seventh summit with $10.4 million.

The media predicts that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will accumulate $734 million on January 31, just $26 million away from “Avatar”, the third place in North American film history.

Although “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has performed exceptionally well during the pandemic, it is almost impossible to challenge the $858 million of runner-up “Avengers 4” and the $936 million of champion “Star Wars 7”.

“Scream 5,” which opened on January 14, will take in $6.6 million in its third weekend, and has grossed more than $60 million in North America and nearly $100 million worldwide.

The film’s investment was only $25 million, and the distributor, Paramount, has recovered the cost and will make a small profit.

“Sing 2” also has good box office endurance, and it can still get $ 4.7 million at the box office in its sixth weekend, which is only a 17% decrease from the previous week.

The film grossed US$134 million in North America and US$247 million (1.571 billion RMB) globally.

Although it can’t be compared with Hollywood cartoons before the epidemic, it is already the world’s highest-grossing Hollywood cartoon after “Frozen 2”.
