According to the “Hollywood Report”, since the 2019 “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”, the next “Star Wars” movie should have been produced next year, but director Patty Jenkins did not have time.
Patty Jenkins’ current projects include Warner Bros.’s “Wonder Woman 3” and Paramount’s new “Cleopatra”, both movies starring Gal Gadot.
On November 3, Gal Gadot said in an interview that “Wonder Woman 3” was still writing the script.
“Star Wars: Rogue Squadron” was supposed to be the first feature film after the “Skywalker” trilogy.
Patty Jenkins and screenwriter Matthew Robinson have been developing for Lucasfilm for more than a year.
According to the plan, “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron” should enter the trial production stage before the end of this year, and production will begin in 2022.
Now “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron” has been cancelled from the plan.
The release date of the film is still valid on December 22, 2023, but can be changed at any time.
It is unclear whether Lucasfilm will release another “Star Wars” movie before “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron”.
Other projects under development, one comes from Marvel Pictures CEO Kevin Feige, and the other comes from Taika Waititi.
