Some reviews:
‘Deadline’: A simple and demonic saga of the end of a friendship, told with vivid humor throughout as well as sudden and shocking violence.
‘Little White Lies’: A testament to McDonagh’s talent for navigating dialogue and the unmistakable chemistry between Farrell and Gleeson.
‘The Hollywood Reporter’: The director/writer’s fourth feature film features superb performances and is his most “Irish” screen work to date, and one of his best.
‘Total Film’: Another poignant, dangerous, darkly funny and heartbreakingly sad character drama from a contemporary master of the alter ego.
‘AwardsWatch’: more deeply felt and sadly direct than McDonagh’s previous work.
‘The Guardian’: There are a number of laughs that make you genuinely laugh out loud, but all of them sound like the heartbreaking cries of a banshee.
‘Collider’: The film celebrates those little grievances and whims that won’t be remembered and will only be the talk of the baristas. Like the sparsely vegetated land where the story takes place, the film reveals much through observation and documentation.
‘The Playlist’: a seemingly madcap meditation on the haphazard nature of our unpredictable world, on our unjust and reasonable times, how civility has expired and how there are no winners on either side of the war ……
The film is about one of two friends on a remote Irish island who suddenly decides to end their friendship, with unexpected and surprising consequences.
‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ is scheduled for a small Northern America release on October 21.
