Emmy Rossum (“Shameless”) joins Apple’s new TV series “The Crowded Room,” starring Tom Holland as mother and son, as well as Amanda Seyfried, Sasha Lane, Christopher Abbott, and Emma Laird.
“The Crowded Room” is an anthology series that will explore the inspiring stories of those who have struggled with mental illness and learned to compromise with it.

Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind” “Fringe”) served as writer, executive producer, and Kornél Mundruczó (“Pieces of a Woman”) directed the 10-episode.
The first season is based on “The Minds of Billy Milligan”, the biography of the famous “multiple personalities” serial rapist Billy Milligan.
Billy Milligan was the first person in American history to be acquitted of a felony with multiple personality disorder, now known as dissociative identity disorder.
Tom Holland plays an original Billy Milligan-inspired character – mentally ill Danny Sullivan, and Emmy Rossum plays his mother, Candy, who seeks out others to fulfill her redemptive dreams.
Amanda Seyfried plays clinical psychologist Rya, who is facing the most challenging case of her career while Rya struggles to balance life as a single mother.
