Spielberg wrote the script with longtime collaborator Tony Kushner (‘Lincoln,’ ‘Munich,’ ‘West Side Story’), and the story, loosely adapted from Spielberg’s life experiences, focuses Focuses on Fabelman’s corner of adolescence, and the relationship with his parents, who like Spielberg live in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

The Spielberg family moved to California during high school, and later his parents divorced and he lived with his father, with whom he had a strained relationship that also became the inspiration for his work on ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,’ ‘Hook,’ ‘Jurassic Park,’ Lincoln’ ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and other films.
